AutoDS review & Shopify dropshipping automation guide
AutoDS is software, not a supplier. It helps you import products from supported sourcing channels, keep prices and stock in sync, and automate parts of order processing. This guide explains what it really does, what it costs once add-ons and credits are included, and when a beginner doesn't need it yet.
How we wrote this: an independently researched editorial guide based on AutoDS's official website and help center, checked 12 October 2026. It is not a hands-on review — we haven't used AutoDS, run automated orders or measured its accuracy. Prices and policies change, so confirm details on the linked sources.

What is AutoDS?
In dropshipping, a customer buys from your store and a supplier ships the product directly to them. AutoDS sits between your store and those suppliers as a coordination tool.
| Role | What it is |
|---|---|
| Shopify | Your online store and checkout — where customers browse and pay you. |
| Product supplier | The business that sells and ships the physical product (e.g. a seller on AliExpress or CJ Dropshipping). |
| AutoDS | Software that helps coordinate sourcing, listings, inventory information and parts of order processing. AutoDS says it is not a supplier, manufacturer or carrier and doesn't own, store, package or ship products.[source] |
- Product importing: copying a supplier's title, description, images, variants, price and stock into AutoDS and then your store.[source]
- Price and stock monitoring: scheduled checks of the supplier's listing that update your price and availability.[source]
- Automated ordering: AutoDS placing the supplier order for you, either via your own buyer account or via its own accounts ("Fulfilled by AutoDS").[source][source]
AutoDS also runs its own Marketplace (private suppliers and AutoDS warehouses), a sourcing service and Shopify store-creation flows.[source][source] These don't make it the physical supplier of every product you sell.
What AutoDS doesn't control
- Supplier product quality and packaging
- Supplier shipping times and carriers
- Supplier refund and return policies (except where it handles FBA returns under supplier rules)
- Whether customers actually want the products
- Your marketing, customer service and legal obligations
Who might benefit: sellers managing growing catalogs, multiple supported suppliers or enough orders that manual processing is a bottleneck.

Product sourcing: AutoDS vs the actual suppliers
Only suppliers and warehouse regions on AutoDS's supported list can be imported — including Alibaba, AliExpress, Amazon, Banggood, CJ Dropshipping, Costco, DHgate, Home Depot, Shein, Target, vidaXL, Walmart, Wayfair and others, each with specific regions. Links from Temu, 1688, wholesale or manufacturer sites don't import.[source]
- Import ≠ automation: Auto-Order and Fulfilled by AutoDS each have their own supplier and region lists; other orders can still be processed manually.[source]
- Destination: AutoDS doesn't detect whether a product ships to your country — check on the supplier's site.[source]
- Names overlap: "Amazon" or "Shopify" in the supplier list means where you source from, not where you sell.[source]
- Quality, packaging, shipping and refunds are set by each supplier, not AutoDS.
| Option | What it is |
|---|---|
| AutoDS Marketplace | Products from private suppliers and AutoDS warehouses[source] |
| Product research / Finder | Tools for discovering products; some use separate Finder credits or the Product Finding Hub add-on[source] |
| Supported third-party suppliers | Import from a listed marketplace or supplier site[source] |
| Custom sourcing | Sourcing requests (Starter and above); credits are deducted on submission[source][source] |
Product importing and listing management
Features listed on the pricing page include:[source]
| Feature | Plan listed |
|---|---|
| Product importer, drafts, product & order manager, variations | All plans (Import: 200 products/variations) |
| Bulk product importer, title & description optimization, custom sourcing, automatic tracking updates | Starter and above |
| Price and stock monitoring | Starter and above |
| Manage up to 3 stores, VIP support | Advanced |
| AI tools (rewrite, image generator, ads text) | Use separately bought AI credits |
The Shopify Starter plan supports one store only.[source] AI credit costs are listed in the add-ons article.[source]
Importing makes listing faster — it doesn't prove that a product will sell or that its supplier is reliable.
Price and stock monitoring
- Not included on the Import 200 plan; available from Starter.[source]
- Must be manually enabled — it isn't on by default — and enabling it applies to newly uploaded products; existing products need it switched on per product or in bulk.[source]
- Runs as scheduled scans several times a day, not in real time.[source]
- Doesn't cover products on the Drafts page, or AutoDS Marketplace products.[source]
- Never automatically finds or switches to another supplier — that's always manual.[source]
- Delivery estimates are checked as a logged-out shopper at a standard ZIP code, so membership-based delivery (e.g. Prime) may differ.[source]
- Supplier price changes eat directly into your margin if your retail price doesn't move.
- Stock monitoring can help reduce overselling by marking items out of stock — it can't eliminate it.
- Supplier prices can vary by delivery region, so set the correct Ship to Country.
- First-order promotions and coupons don't represent the price you'll pay long term.
- Keep reviewing profitability; monitoring keeps data in sync, it doesn't judge whether a product is still worth selling.
Order automation — three different modes
Manual fulfillment
You buy each order from the supplier yourself and add tracking. Works with any supplier and needs no automation add-on.[source]
Auto-Order via your own buyer account
- Uses your own Amazon or AliExpress shopping (buyer) account — not a seller account.[source]
- Full Automation places orders for you; Amazon payment is automatic, but AliExpress orders still need you to log in and confirm payment.[source]
- Semi-Automation (tracking only): you place orders and link them; AutoDS updates tracking.[source]
- Requires the Orders Processor add-on and Auto-Order Credits.[source]
- Your buyer account needs 2–5 completed manual orders first; on a brand-new account automated orders fail.[source]
- You pay suppliers and handle returns and disputes with them yourself.
Fulfilled by AutoDS (FBA)
- "FBA" here means Fulfilled by AutoDS — not Amazon's Fulfillment by Amazon.[source]
- AutoDS places orders using its own buyer accounts, handles tracking and return-label processes for most selling channels.[source][source]
- Available on all plans, but needs the Orders Processor add-on, Auto-Order Credits and enough funds in a USD or GBP Managed Balance matching the supplier's price currency.[source]
- Supported suppliers include Alibaba, AliExpress, Amazon (US only), AutoDS Marketplace, CJ Dropshipping, DHgate, Home Depot and others.[source]
- If the balance is too low, orders pause; orders from the last 24 hours resend automatically once the balance is topped up.[source]
- Refunds of unused Managed Balance carry a processing fee of up to 15%.[source]
| Manual | Auto-Order (own account) | Fulfilled by AutoDS | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who places the order | You | AutoDS via your account (Full) or you (Semi) | AutoDS via its accounts |
| Suppliers | Any | Amazon & AliExpress (specific regions) | FBA supplier list |
| Add-on / credits | None | Orders Processor + credits | Orders Processor + credits |
| Who pays the supplier | You | Your account (AliExpress needs manual confirmation) | AutoDS from your Managed Balance |
| Returns with supplier | You | You | AutoDS, under supplier policies |
| Main risks | Time, mistakes | Account restrictions, failed orders | No cancellation after Ordered, balance/credit shortfalls |
None of these modes is risk-free or entirely hands-off — failed orders and exceptions still need you.
AutoDS pricing, trial and add-ons
Prices from the AutoDS pricing page, checked 12 October 2026, in USD.[source] AutoDS prices differ by selling channel; these are the figures shown on the page's default view, which lists Shopify features such as store generation. Select Shopify on the pricing page to confirm before subscribing.
| Plan | Monthly billing | Annual billing (per month) | Limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Import | $26.90 | $19.90 | Up to 200 products/variations; 1 store; no price & stock monitoring |
| Starter | $39.90 | $29.90 | 201–500 products; 500 variations; Shopify: 1 store |
| Advanced | $66.90 | $49.90 | 501–1,000 products; up to 3 stores |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Packages from Advanced 2K to Master 100K |
Annual plans are charged upfront for 12 months at 25% off.[source] Subscribing via the Shopify App Store bills through Shopify and limits you to that one channel.[source]
Trial terms
- A 3-day trial, not free: the pricing page headline says "$0.99" and its buttons say "$1".[source]
- Includes the selected plan's full feature set; after 3 days the plan renews at full price (annual = full year upfront).[source]
- Upgrading during the trial ends it immediately and charges the new plan.[source]
- Affiliate and partner sign-ups may have different trial terms.[source]
- Cancel before the trial ends to avoid being charged.[source]
Additional charges
| Charge | What it is |
|---|---|
| Orders Processor add-on | Monthly add-on required for any order automation[source] |
| Auto-Order Credits | 1 credit per automated order (more with tracking conversion); packages from 20 credits for $9.90 ($0.50 each) to 2,500 for $499 ($0.20 each). New accounts get 5 free credits[source] |
| Managed Balance | Pre-loaded funds that pay suppliers for FBA orders[source] |
| Product Finding Hub / Finder credits | Optional product-research add-on and credits[source] |
| AI credits | Bought separately (e.g. 90 credits per AI image)[source] |
| Other add-ons | Mentorship, VA Users, Create UGC, ZipStore, or a bundle[source] |
| Extra selling channels | One plan per channel[source] |
| Shopify subscription | Paid to Shopify |
| Products, supplier shipping, ads, refunds, taxes | Paid to suppliers, ad platforms and tax authorities |
The add-ons article lists each add-on, but current add-on prices are shown in your AutoDS account; we haven't quoted them. The base subscription does not include unlimited automatic ordering.
The real cost of automating a dropshipping store
A hypothetical example. Every number is an assumption, not a real supplier price or a sales forecast.
- Selling price $29.99, free shipping for the customer
- Product cost $12.00, supplier shipping $4.00
- Payment processing 2.9% + $0.30
- 30 orders a month (assumed, not a prediction)
- Shopify plan $39.00/month (assumed) + AutoDS Starter $39.90/month (monthly list price)
- One Auto-Order Credit per order at $0.40; ad cost $12.00 per order (assumed)
- Orders Processor add-on, refunds and taxes excluded — they'd lower profit further
Product, shipping and payment fees only
Profit per order: $12.82
Monthly profit: $384.61
Plus Shopify, AutoDS, credits and ads
Profit per order: -$2.21
Monthly profit: -$66.29
A product that looks profitable before software and marketing can lose money once they're included. Automation saves certain manual work; it doesn't create demand. Try your own numbers in the profit calculator.
Cash flow and working capital
- A customer pays your Shopify store.
- The supplier must be paid for the product and shipping — often straight away.
- For FBA, that money comes from a Managed Balance you've already loaded.[source]
- Your Shopify payout may arrive days later.
- Subscriptions, add-ons and credits are separate charges on your payment method.[source]
Revenue is what customers pay; profit is what's left after all costs; available cash is what you can actually spend today. A store can be profitable on paper and still run out of cash.
Returns, refunds and cancellations
| Situation | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Supplier refunds (Manual / Auto-Order) | You deal with the supplier through your own account |
| Supplier refunds (FBA) | AutoDS resolves issues such as returns in line with supplier policies[source] |
| Refunding your Shopify customer | Always you, through Shopify — separate from any supplier refund |
| Cancelling an FBA order | Not possible once it's "Ordered"; setting it to "Canceled" in AutoDS doesn't cancel the supplier purchase[source] |
| Editing an FBA order | Not possible once "In Order Progress"[source] |
| Supplier cancels or item is out of stock | Order fails; refund comes from the supplier/Managed Balance; you inform the customer |
| Defects or wrong items | Supplier policy applies; gather photos quickly |
| Wrong address, change of mind | Depends on supplier; international returns can cost more than the item |
| Cancelling your AutoDS account | Ends FBA eligibility, including reorders, returns and cancellations — resolve open FBA orders first[source] |
Supplier refunds can be slow, and chargebacks and customer support remain your responsibility. Supplier restrictions don't override consumer law where you sell — your obligations to customers may be wider than what a supplier will refund you. This isn't legal advice.
Connecting an existing Shopify store
- 1.AutoDSRegister on autods.com (not via the Shopify App Store) and choose Shopify as your selling channel.
- 2.AutoDSAt "Connect your store", choose to connect an existing Shopify store. You may first see a paid store-creation offer — you can skip it.

AutoDS's own Shopify store builder
AutoDS offers several ways to start a new Shopify store:[source]
- AI pre-built store: builds a new Shopify store from your chosen niche and adds 10 trending products; new stores only.[source]
- Professional One Product Store: a paid store-creation service (Build Your Store Pro), a one-time $97, often shown as a full-screen offer during onboarding.[source]
- Create a shop manually: redirects you to Shopify to create the store, then you claim it in AutoDS.[source]
These flows can send you into a new Shopify account sign-up. AutoDS's store builder page describes the AI store as included with its $1 AutoDS trial, and says you'll also pay $1 for the first month of the Shopify trial — that's Shopify's own offer, set by Shopify.[source] After the trial, AutoDS plan pricing applies.
Our recommendation for beginners: create your Shopify store through the Shopify links in this guide and our launch guide, plan your products, and connect AutoDS later if you need it. Either route can work; ours keeps your store setup separate from a software subscription decision.
Is AutoDS worth it for a beginner?
May be useful when…
- Your catalog is growing
- You use several supported suppliers
- Repetitive product edits take hours
- You rely on suppliers whose prices and stock change often
- Order volume makes manual buying a bottleneck
Probably unnecessary when…
- You haven't chosen a niche yet
- You have only a few products
- Demand isn't validated
- Your startup budget is very small
- Your supplier's own Shopify app already covers it
- You use a POD or fashion platform with its own fulfillment
You can start simple — manual orders or a supplier's own app — and add automation when there's a real operational reason. Automation isn't required to succeed.

Frequently asked questions
What is AutoDS?
AutoDS is dropshipping software. It connects your store (such as Shopify) to supported sourcing channels like AliExpress, Amazon, Walmart and CJ Dropshipping, imports products, can monitor supplier prices and stock, and can automate parts of order processing. AutoDS says it is not a supplier, manufacturer or carrier and doesn't own, store or ship products.
How much does AutoDS cost for Shopify?
When checked on 12 October 2026, the AutoDS pricing page listed Import at $26.90/month, Starter at $39.90/month and Advanced at $66.90/month (USD, monthly billing), or $19.90, $29.90 and $49.90 per month billed annually. Enterprise is custom. Prices vary by selling channel, so confirm Shopify is selected on the pricing page. Add-ons and credits cost extra.
Is there an AutoDS free trial?
AutoDS offers a 3-day trial for a small fee rather than a free trial — the pricing page headline says $0.99 while its buttons say $1. After the trial, the plan renews at the full price (annual plans are charged upfront). Any add-ons enabled at sign-up, such as the pre-selected Orders Processor, are billed separately. Cancel before the trial ends to avoid charges.
Does the AutoDS subscription include automatic ordering?
Not on its own. Order automation needs the separately billed Orders Processor add-on plus Auto-Order Credits, which are bought in packages (from $9.90 for 20 credits). Fulfilled by AutoDS orders also need funds in a Managed Balance to pay suppliers.
Does AutoDS prevent overselling?
It can reduce the risk, but not eliminate it. Price and stock monitoring isn't included on the Import plan, must be enabled, and runs as scheduled scans several times a day rather than in real time. A change between scans can still lead to an order at a loss or out of stock.
What does FBA mean in AutoDS?
In AutoDS, FBA means "Fulfilled by AutoDS": AutoDS places orders using its own buyer accounts and a balance you pre-load. It is not Amazon's "Fulfillment by Amazon" warehousing service.
Can I cancel a Fulfilled by AutoDS order?
Once an FBA order reaches "Ordered" status, AutoDS says it can't be canceled, and changing its status to "Canceled" in AutoDS doesn't cancel the supplier purchase. Check orders carefully before they're processed.
Do beginners need AutoDS?
Not necessarily. With a handful of products and few orders, manual fulfillment or a supplier's own Shopify app may be enough. Automation becomes more useful once your catalog or order volume makes manual work a real bottleneck and the subscription fits your margins.
